The crowning jewel of any wedding reception is the wedding cake. Make it look and taste fabulous!
When you are planning your wedding cake, you will find many styles and flavors to choose from. Pick a flavor that will appeal to your guests, but the style is all your own.
To decide what your style is, ask yourselves these questions. Is this a destination wedding and reception? How formal are you? What are your hobbies? Where did the two of you meet? Where is the honeymoon? What colors are in your ceremony? What season is the reception being held? All of these answers could help you decide on the cake theme.
Consider the look of your wedding gown. Is it lacey, floral, or more simple and streamlined? Would you like to see lacework and flowers on your cake, or would you prefer something more sleek and sophisticated?
Before going into the bakery to plan and taste the flavors, you should do some research. Look at pictures of designer cakes and select the ideas that you find best suited to your day. Take the pictures of your favorite cakes with you, when you go to the bakery. This will help your designer to create the cake of your dreams.
Remember to keep an eye on the budget. Wedding cakes can be very expensive. If you’re not getting the cooperation that you want, go somewhere else.
The timetable is extremely important, also. The bakery will need plenty of time to create your masterpiece wedding cake. Be sure to order early.
If you want a groom’s cake you will need to do the same process of design, and order at the same time as the wedding cake.
